Alan J Chaytor - Managing Director
Alan has worked in the soft commodity markets since 1984 and is the founder and Managing Director of Pacific Rim. From 1984-94 he traded coffee, cocoa, rubber and palm oil for Harrisons & Crosfield Plc and in 1991 became the Trading Director responsible for all these particular trading activities. In 1994 Alan set up Pacific Rim Plantation Services Pte Ltd in Singapore to manage the merchandising and shipping of palm and lauric oils from South East Asia and the Pacific into Europe.
Alan is an active member of the industry and has represented a number of industry related organisations and trade bodies.
Hariharan Ramasamy - Director
Hari is the Director of our Plantation Agency activities and has more than 20 years experience of the industry. His commercial/trading roles have included the management of oil palm mills as well as palm kernel crush and refinery plants, the marketing and shipping of commodity oils and fats and acting as a consultant on various agri projects.
Andy Worrall - Director
Andy is the Commercial Director and began trading commodities with Cargill in 1989. His 7 years with Cargill’s European Oilseeds Division meant that Andy gained a great range of trading exposure to the oils and related markets. He spent 2 years as the senior trader at the Rotterdam tropical oils refinery and his final role with Cargill was as Trading Manager for all Cargill’s UK Oilseed crushing activities. Andy was Trading Director for Anglia Oils (now AAK UK Ltd) until 2004 and during that time, became chairman of SCOPA, the UK’s oil and oilseed processing association. He then went on to establish his own consultancy firm specialising in commodity risk management during which he advised a number of clients ranging from refineries, trading businesses, plantations, bio-diesel manufacturers, investment companies, fmcg and renewable energy companies. Andy joined Pacific Rim in April 2007.
Wen Chai - Director
Wen Chai is the Financial Director of Pacific Rim and has over 10 years experience of trade and corporate finance within the soft commodity sector. She is presently responsible for overall financial management of the company as well as trade finance both for our own but also clients’ trading activities. Wen Chai spent 7 years with KPMG as an audit supervisor and then 7 years between 1993 and 2000 as Finance Manager for Gardner Smith Pte Ltd in Singapore, a palm oil trading house. Wen Chai joined Pacific Rim in 2000. |
